For a nature-focused weekend with Holiday Homes Maridu, six of our nine homes sit in the Netherlands and are the most fitting choice. Five of them share one address on the Veluwe: Ayla, Family L-Cube, Tiny Cube, Wellness and Forest Cube all stand at Koningsweg 14 on Resort De Hooge Veluwe (Schaarsbergen entrance, near Arnhem), surrounded by forest. The sixth, Family Wellness, is in Hattemerbroek near Zwolle. Which one suits you comes down to group size and the facilities you want, so here is exactly what each home offers.
Our homes on the Veluwe (Resort De Hooge Veluwe)
These five homes all sit on the same wooded resort at Koningsweg 14 near Arnhem and Schaarsbergen, so they share the same setting and the same on-resort swimming pool. They differ mainly in size and in-home facilities:
- Wellness — 2 guests, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom. A stylish wellness chalet (built 2021) for a couple, with its own hot tub and sauna. Single-level, so no stairs. Fire pit and BBQ on site.
- chez Ayla — 4 guests, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. A modern detached chalet in the woods with a private hot tub. No sauna, no BBQ, no fire pit.
- Tiny Cube — 4 guests, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. A tiny house with an indoor pellet stove, a loft bedroom with skylight, a fire pit, and a shared wood-fired hot tub. No sauna.
- Forest Cube — 4 guests, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. The same concept as Tiny Cube: a tiny house with an indoor pellet stove, a loft bedroom, a fire pit, and a shared wood-fired hot tub. No sauna.
- Family L-Cube — 6 guests, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. The largest of the resort homes, with an extensive private garden and a sauna. No hot tub, no BBQ, no fire pit.
Family Wellness near Zwolle
Family Wellness sits in Hattemerbroek near Zwolle, on a different site from the resort homes above. It sleeps 5 across 2 bedrooms with 1 bathroom, and comes with a hot tub, a sauna and its own swimming pool, plus a large garden with a terrace and a BBQ. It is fully single-level and step-free, and it is the only Maridu home with contactless self check-in, which makes it a practical pick for families.
Which home for which weekend
- A couple: Wellness (2 guests, hot tub and sauna, single-level).
- A small group or young family (up to 4): Ayla, Tiny Cube or Forest Cube. Tiny Cube and Forest Cube both have a cosy pellet stove, a fire pit and a shared wood-fired hot tub; Ayla has its own private hot tub.
- A family wanting wellness and easy access: Family Wellness (5 guests, hot tub, sauna, private pool, step-free, self check-in).
- A larger group (up to 6): Family L-Cube, which has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a sauna.
Good to know before you book
- Swimming pool: all five resort homes (Ayla, Tiny Cube, Forest Cube, Family L-Cube, Wellness) share the on-resort pool. Family Wellness has its own pool.
- Hot tub: available at Ayla, Tiny Cube, Forest Cube, Wellness and Family Wellness. Family L-Cube does not have one. Tiny Cube and Forest Cube share a wood-fired hot tub.
- Sauna: available at Family L-Cube, Wellness and Family Wellness; not at Ayla, Tiny Cube or Forest Cube.
- Fire pit: at Tiny Cube, Forest Cube and Wellness; not at Ayla, Family L-Cube or Family Wellness.
- BBQ: at Wellness and Family Wellness; not at Ayla, Family L-Cube, Tiny Cube or Forest Cube.
- Pets: welcome at all six of these homes, always with written approval beforehand and a pet fee (Ayla, Tiny Cube and Forest Cube €35; Family L-Cube €49; Family Wellness €60).
- Check-in and check-out: arrival between 15:00 and 23:00, departure by 10:00, minimum 2 nights. Family Wellness offers self check-in; the resort homes are handed over by the host.
