Yes, Holiday Homes Maridu is a good fit for families, but the practical details differ per home. Eight of the nine homes provide a high chair (all except Ayla), and most also offer a cot or travel cot (all except Ayla and Elizabeth). Sleeping capacity ranges from 2 guests at Wellness up to 8 at Celine, Elizabeth and Marianne. Two homes are purpose-named for families, Family Wellness and Family L-Cube, and all six Dutch homes at Resort De Hooge Veluwe plus Family Wellness have access to a swimming pool. Below is exactly what each home offers so you can match it to your group.
High chairs and cots per home
If you are travelling with a baby or toddler, a high chair and a cot are usually the two things that matter most. Here is where they are available:
- High chair available: Celine, Elizabeth, Marianne, Family L-Cube, Family Wellness, Tiny Cube, Wellness and Forest Cube. Not at Ayla.
- Cot or travel cot available: Celine, Marianne, Family L-Cube, Family Wellness, Tiny Cube, Wellness and Forest Cube. Not at Ayla or Elizabeth.
- Bed linen is included at all nine homes. Towels are included at Ayla, Elizabeth, Family Wellness, Tiny Cube and Forest Cube, but not at Celine, Marianne, Family L-Cube or Wellness.
How many people each home sleeps
Occupancy is limited to the number of booked guests, so count your children in the headcount. Capacities are:
- Celine, Elizabeth and Marianne: 8 guests (4 bedrooms each). Good for larger families or two families together.
- Family L-Cube: 6 guests, 3 bedrooms, with an extensive private garden.
- Family Wellness: 5 guests, 2 bedrooms.
- Ayla, Tiny Cube and Forest Cube: 4 guests, 2 bedrooms each.
- Wellness: 2 guests, 1 bedroom. This is a couples-focused suite rather than a family home.
Homes designed with families in mind
A few homes stand out for families with young children:
- Family Wellness (Hattemerbroek, near Zwolle) is a luxury wellness chalet for families. It is the only home that is single level and step-free, and the only one with contactless self check-in, which is handy when arriving with tired children. It sleeps 5 and has a high chair, travel cot, a large garden with terrace, a hot tub, sauna and swimming pool.
- Family L-Cube (Resort De Hooge Veluwe, Arnhem) sleeps 6 across 3 bedrooms, has a high chair and travel cot, an extensive private garden, a sauna and access to the resort swimming pool.
- Wellness (Resort De Hooge Veluwe) is also single level and step-free, but it is a suite for 2 guests, so it suits couples rather than families with children.
Sleeping layout to be aware of
Only Family Wellness and Wellness are single level. All other homes have stairs. Two homes in particular have a loft-style sleeping area:
- Tiny Cube and Forest Cube are tiny houses at Resort De Hooge Veluwe with a sleeping loft reached by stairs and a skylight above. Both sleep 4, provide a high chair and travel cot, and have a pellet stove inside, so keep younger children in mind around the stairs and the stove.
- If a fully step-free layout is important, choose Family Wellness (families) or Wellness (couples).
Swimming pool, gardens and outdoor space
Every home has a garden. A swimming pool is available at the six Dutch homes: Ayla, Family L-Cube, Tiny Cube, Wellness and Forest Cube share the resort pool at De Hooge Veluwe, and Family Wellness has its own pool. The three homes in the Czech Republic (Celine, Elizabeth and Marianne) do not have a pool. A hot tub is available at Ayla, Celine, Marianne, Family Wellness, Tiny Cube, Wellness and Forest Cube (not at Elizabeth or Family L-Cube); note that at Tiny Cube and Forest Cube the hot tub is shared and wood-fired.
House rules that apply to families
These rules are the same across all Maridu homes:
- Check-in is between 15:00 and 23:00, and check-out is at 10:00. The minimum stay is 2 nights.
- Smoking inside is not allowed in any home.
- Parties or gatherings are not allowed.
- Occupancy is limited to the number of booked guests, so include children in your headcount.
- A deposit may be requested on arrival and is refunded after inspection if there is no damage.
Bringing a pet alongside children
Pets are welcome at eight of the nine homes (Ayla, Celine, Family L-Cube, Family Wellness, Forest Cube, Marianne, Tiny Cube and Wellness) after written approval in advance. Elizabeth is the only home that does not allow pets. Pet fees vary per home: €35 at Ayla, Tiny Cube and Forest Cube, €39 at Wellness, €49 at Family L-Cube, €60 at Celine and Family Wellness, and €70 at Marianne.
