Yes. Every one of the nine Holiday Homes Maridu properties has its own garden, so whichever home you book you will have outdoor space to enjoy. What that space looks like varies: the larger freestanding houses in the Czech Republic (Celine, Elizabeth and Marianne) sit on spacious private plots with multiple terraces, while the tiny-house cubes and chalets at Resort De Hooge Veluwe near Arnhem offer gardens in a wooded natural setting. Beyond the garden itself, features such as a fire pit, hot tub, sauna, barbecue or pool are available at some homes and not others, so the sections below spell out exactly where you will find each one.
Which homes have a garden?
All nine homes have a garden. The three Czech homes near the Krkonoše (Giant) Mountains are freestanding villas on large private grounds with several terraces. The six Dutch homes are split between Resort De Hooge Veluwe at Koningsweg 14 near Arnhem and Schaarsbergen (Ayla, Family L-Cube, Tiny Cube, Wellness and Forest Cube) and Family Wellness in Hattemerbroek near Zwolle, which has a large garden with a terrace. Because the five Veluwe homes share the same resort address, their surroundings are comparable to one another.
Fire pits in the garden
A fire pit is available at some homes but not all:
- Available: Celine, Elizabeth, Marianne, Tiny Cube, Wellness and Forest Cube.
- Not available: Ayla, Family L-Cube and Family Wellness.
Barbecue and grill
If cooking outdoors matters to you, here is where a barbecue or grill is provided:
- Available: Celine, Elizabeth, Marianne, Family Wellness and Wellness.
- Not available: Ayla, Family L-Cube, Tiny Cube and Forest Cube.
Hot tub and sauna
Several homes add wellness features to the outdoor experience. A hot tub is available at Ayla, Celine, Marianne, Family Wellness, Tiny Cube, Wellness and Forest Cube; it is not available at Elizabeth or Family L-Cube. At Celine the hot tub heats to around 40°C for an extra charge, while Tiny Cube and Forest Cube share a wood-fired hot tub.
A sauna is available at Celine, Marianne, Family L-Cube, Family Wellness and Wellness. It is not available at Ayla, Elizabeth, Tiny Cube or Forest Cube. Marianne has a Finnish-style sauna as part of its luxury villa setup.
Swimming pool
The swimming pool is a resort facility, so it applies only to the Dutch Veluwe homes and to Family Wellness, not to the Czech properties:
- Pool available: Ayla, Family L-Cube, Family Wellness, Tiny Cube, Wellness and Forest Cube.
- No pool: Celine, Elizabeth and Marianne (these are in the Czech Republic).
Pets in the garden
Eight of the nine homes welcome pets, so in most cases your dog can enjoy the garden with you. Pets are allowed at Ayla, Celine, Family L-Cube, Family Wellness, Forest Cube, Marianne, Tiny Cube and Wellness. Elizabeth is the only home that does not allow pets. Where pets are welcome a pet fee applies (from €35 to €70 depending on the home), and pets are always subject to written approval in advance.
Good to know before you book
A few house rules apply outdoors at every home: no parties or gatherings, occupancy is limited to the number of guests booked, and smoking is not permitted indoors.
